Growing with the grain

The Grains Research Foundation aims to engage Queensland Grain Growers in developing the Northern Grains Industry by encouraging participation in research, development and extension priority setting.

The Foundation is particularly focused on achieving its objectives through the investment in youth, evident through its 'From One Grain Project'.  The project aims to develop the industry involvement of the younger set of Queensland grain growers through Social Media to encourage their participation in  Grains Research.  An annual study tour for Queensland grain growers also exposes them to how research identification, prioritisation and funding occurs overseas to allow them to better understand the direction needed for the future of the Australian grains industry.

UPDATE - US Study Tour

Postponed to ????** (2023/2024?)

The Grains Research Foundation Ltd’s annual two-week grain grower capacity development program will hopefully run again soon*.

Our grower capacity development program sees small groups of predominantly Queensland Grain Growers (although we accept applications from other states) undertaking travel to the USA to:

We have found that small group travel is easier and less intrusive on our hosts while allowing easier conversations and discussions between our travellers and their hosts. Our growers come back full of enthusiasm and ideas about the future of their industry and are encouraged to become more involved in Australian research by making connections with scientists as well as learning about how research is prioritised and funded here in Australia.

Spaces on the tour are limited to six and there are a limited number of partially subsidised places available. Full Fare cost is $6000 and includes airfares, transport, accommodation & most breakfasts. Subsidised Fare is $2500. The application form and draft itinerary can be downloaded by clicking the buttons to the left.
